Reds sign catcher Tucker Barnhart to a 4-year extension

Growing up in Brownsville, Indiana, Tucker Barnhart watched the Reds on TV. On Friday, September 22, he signed a 4-year contract extension with the team that will guarantee him $16.0 million with a club option and escalators that can make the deal worth $24.5 million.
Tucker would have been eligible for arbitration for the first time after the season, but now can call Cincinnati home until at least 2021. He has led the Reds in games started at catcher the last two seasons.

Tucker’s agent Steve Rath attended the press conference on Friday September 22, along with Tucker’s wife Sierra and their new son Tatum and Tucker’s parents.
