Astros Tony Kemp launches #HugsForHomers T-shirts for charity
Outfielder Tony Kemp brought more than a keen batting eye, baserunning speed and highlight defensive plays when he was promoted from Triple-A in May. He brought a tradition of hugging his teammates after a home run and it has taken off in Houston.
It originated with Evan Gattis, who started hitting home runs after Kemp’s promotion, and Kemp would jump into his arms for a big hug, which spawned the hashtag #HugsforHomers.
T-shirts bearing the hashtag are now available at www.breakingt.com/HUGS and proceeds benefit the Astros Youth Baseball Academy.
